The Department of Visual Communication organized Talkies – the Media Workshop on Oct 12th & 13th 2023 at TRP Auditorium. Five major personalities from the Industry were invited to interact their experience and knowledge to the students. Talkies commenced with lighting the kuthuvilakku by Mr. Mohan Raja, Maj. Dr.Venkatramanan, Dean (S&H), Dr.V.Saravanan,Vice Principal(Academics) and Dr.V.Prabakaran, Head of the Department.
The session was preceded by the HOD’s welcome address. The Chief Guest was welcomed by bookuet and honoured with a memento following the speeches by the dignitaries. The film director, Mr. Mohan Raja, addressed the gathering and spoke of his upcoming projects as well as his experiences in the film industry.He engaged in active conversation with the students. The session concluded with the memorable photographs and videos.
The next session began at 2:00 pm, and Mr. Gaurav Anand, an editor and game designer, was the chief guest. Following the HOD’s welcome address, Mr. Gaurav Anand began describing the fundamentals of video editing and colour grading. He came with a presentation explaining the fundamentals of colour garding.Then,usingDAVINCI RESOLVE, he transformed a raw video into a high-quality output. The entire process was shown to the students in order to comprehend video editing and colour grading.He virtually handled all of the editing, colour grading, and rendering tasks.Students engaged with him and replied to his insightful questions. The session concluded with the high-quality result made in front of the students.
On October 14,2022, Day 2, the workshop was with stunt choreographer Stun siva.The welcome speech and felicitation were delivered by the HOD/Viscom. Mr.Stun Siva began his address by sharing his career experiences and roles in the Tamil Film Industry. Students ask questions about stunts and the untold details of the stunt industry. The lesson was highly engaging and concluded with the greatest amount of newest knowledge.
Followed by the next session with Mr. Yuvaraj Dhayalan Film Director who has worked in the movies Potta Potti , Eli,Tenaliraman and recently released Irugapatru on 6 October 2023. The students also participated in an interactive session where they raised questions about the art of filmmaking processes.
And our next session chief guest Mr.Vishal Chandrasekhar inaugurated “ரீங்காரம்” -a viscom music club logo. Dr.V.Prabakaran,HOD/Viscom explained about the music club and the student coordinators of Shift I & II were presented with badges from the Chief Guest.
The valedictory function was extra remarkable for the event Talkies 2023 since we invited Mr.Vishal Chandrasekhar, Music Composer.Vishal described the techniques a music director uses to guide both live performances and recorded performances in order to get the most out of a musical work and to help the music provoke feelings. With much enthusiasm, he sang and performed for our students. Students engaged with him and demonstrated off their skills. The session concluded with photographs and videos.
