Department of Commerce organized Webinar titled “ 4Cs A Way Forward For Better Tomorrow with the objective of enabling students to understand the futuristic approach by incorporating 4Cs ( Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking , Creativity) to outshine this hyper competitive environment to gain surpassing edge to match with the pinnacle of success .The speaker for the session was Ms.Maya Chandrasehar, Amazon, City Operations Head . She is an highly motivated professional who has a profound experience as a Mechanical Engineering graduate with sound and diverse knowledge in manufacturing operations with fifteen years of experience in manufacturing industry in Caterpillar industry India Private Ltd and the first women employee in shop floor in the engine plant. Maya has got diverse experience in various functional areas-Quality, Manufacturing Engineering Production, 6 Sigma, Caterpillar Production System and Lean. She started her career as a Graduate engineering trainee and after playing various roles, the last being the Manufacturing Engineering Manager for Assembly, Test and Paint operations. In her fifteen years of experience, she has also led various global projects and worked with diverse teams. She joined Amazon in January 2020 as City Operations head for Chennai. Maya is also the Chairperson of Women’s Initiative Network- an affinity group for women employees and has led various initiatives for strengthening and development of women employees that includes attraction and retention of women engineers in manufacturing field. She has also lead Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) initiative and conducted sessions for schools and colleges in Chennai for extending awareness on engine ering and manufacturing to the girl students. She is also associated with Puthri project with AVTAR group and volunteers for career counselling sessions. Maya has also been the presiding office of Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) for POSH act (Prevention of Sexual Harassment for women at workplace) for the organization and has experience in handing POSH cases. Maya is also keen in devoting her time for service-She is a member in a music group- Dhwani who works with various NGOs in the city and conducts musical programs for them.
Description: The guest emphasized the importance of 4Cs (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity) which can implement new techniques of communication in classroom, facilitating the learning process, collaboration and problem solving.
Program: Zoom link was circulated and more than 175 students participated. From the webinar the students had the opportunity to educate themselves on 4Cs and it were briefed by the guest and Students gained knowledge. Students also participated enthusiastically and clarified their doubts relevant to subject.
HOST: Dr.D.Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor, hosted the event and introduced the chief guest with great excitement and after the splendid presentation by the guest speaker, Dr.P.Maheshwari Assistant Professor, delivered the vote of Thanks.
