Bridge Course for First Year B.Com – CS Students – Day 1

The Bridge Course for First Year B.Com – CS Students, organized by the Department of Commerce (Corporate Secretaryship) at SRM Institute of Science and Technology’s Ramapuram Campus, commenced on 17th July 2023. The course is specially designed to provide incoming first-year B.Com – CS students with a strong academic foundation and essential skills in commerce-related subjects.
Session 1: Basics of Accounting (Time: 1.15 pm – 2.00 pm)
Dr. P. Suseela, Associate Professor and Head (i/c) of the Department of Commerce, SRMIST, Ramapuram Campus, conducted the first session on the Basics of Accounting. The session aimed to familiarize students with the fundamental principles of accounting, including the concept of double-entry, the accounting equation, and the preparation of basic financial statements. Students were encouraged to actively participate in the session and clarify their doubts regarding accounting principles.
Session 2: Principles of Management (Time: 2.00 pm – 2.45 pm)
Dr. A. Jesintha Rani, Assistant Professor (Sl.G) and Head (i/c) of the Department of Commerce – CS, took charge of the second session on Principles of Management. The session focused on introducing students to the fundamental principles and concepts of management. It covered topics such as planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, providing a comprehensive overview of management principles applicable to various organizations and business scenarios.
Session 3: Introduction of Economics (Time: 2.45 pm – 3.30 pm)
Mrs. Y. Esther Reeta, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce – CS, led the third session on Introduction to Economics. The session provided an overview of economic principles, including the basics of demand and supply, market structures, and key economic indicators. Students were introduced to the economic factors that influence business decisions and market dynamics.

The Bridge Course’s Day 1 proved to be a valuable learning experience for the first-year B.Com – CS students, as they gained insights into crucial subjects that form the foundation of their academic journey.
