The Department of Visual Communication celebrated National Cinema Day by inviting famous film director Mr.Sasi on 16th Sep 2022 in Hitech Hall,SRMIST at 10am. The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and Cinemas across India, welcome moviegoers to spend a day at the movies with celebratory admission price of ₹75 to mark National Cinema Day on 16th September 2022 initially however it was postponed to 23rd Sep 2022.
In the event the welcome address was presented by Dr.V.Prabakaran, Associate Prof and Head of the department. The film director addressed the gathering and appreciated the students for choosing Visual Communication course. For the future directors he explained the reviewing, adjusting scripts and selecting which ones to turn into films. He also added about monitoring and approving film production budgets. Director Sasi shared his experience working with editors to produce the final version of the film and working with the sound and music departments. Students interacted with the film director asking questions on film direction, selecting the storyline, choosing unique characters and his screenplay writing techniques for the film. And also they asked to explain the film making process (both on and off the set) and secret behind telling the characterization for the actors in the movie. The session was very interactive as well as informative to the students. The event was coordinated by Ms.P.Yuvarani, Assistant Professor, Department of Visual Communication.
