The Department of COMPUTER APPLICATIONS(MCA) conducted : INDUSTRY INSTITUTE CONVENTION SUMMIT IICS 2020 – Programme on 17-11-2020. The session was handled by Dr.Hema Gopal Former Vice President- Global Head -Tata Consultancy Services Limited- Advisor-KPMG

Dr.J.Dhilipan Vice Principal – Academic-Faculty of Science and Humanities & HOD/MCA presented the welcome address.

DR.C.SUNDAR – PRINCIPAL-FSH presented the presidential address. During his address he expressed his gratitude for the guest speaker and stated that the department has chosen the right person for the event. He also congratulated the department for arranging a program like this.

The chief guest spoke about exploring her career growth and stating the role and responsibility in each position. She added that SRMIST is a flagship institution which constantly invites people from industry to conduct events like this to bridge the gap between industry and academia.

She added that Lot of projects are available and the Central minister has signed for lots of projects in Chennai-like 120 crore spent for IoT/Cloud projects. She then discussed about

• Employability percentage of Engineering Graduates in different roles
• Climbing the Career Ladder

Further she discussed about -Reaction Vs Response and explained about the Cockroach Theory: Reaction Vs Response .She also spoke about the industry giving highest salary hikes in 2020

Topic-17-11-2020-AN : Life Skills- Educational Etiquettes – Cultural Sensitivity – Facing Failures and Success-

Dr.Hema Gopal started the address by exploring What is a life skill?

She added a story of cricket players and their skill sets. She listed that the following skills are needed

• Flexibility
• Initiatives
• Social-Skills
• Productivity
• Leadership skills

Further she discussed about how to show cause our life skills in all our walks of our life. In addition, she highlighted the need of learning continuously for elevating our skills. She then discussed about educational etiquettes and its importance. She then explained about educational etiquettes and how to attend online classes. She advised the students to follow the principles to become good professionals

• Submit original assignments
• Ask questions

The session/online session was attended by around 100 participants. The presentation was followed by a Q & A session. The event was well-coordinated by the faculty member Mr.N.Krishnamoorthy AP/MCA.
