REPORT ON THE 5-DAY E-STUDENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (E-SDP)

The Department of English and Other Foreign Languages organized a 5-Day E-Student Development Programme(E-SDP) on English for Enlightenment, Empowerment and Employability from 21.06.2021 to 25.06.2021 convened by Dr V Rema, Professor and Head/EFL and Coordinated by Dr G Immanuel, S Silviya, K Kavitha and S Chidambararani, Assistant Professors/EFL. The Programme had varieties like motivational talk, Leadership talk, Career counseling talk with offline activities like enacting roles and short story writing in between days. The programmes was planned as listed below:
Day 1 : Career Counselling Talk on English for Empowerment – A Global Perspective
Day 2 : Offline event – Enact a Role
Day 3 : Motivational Talk on Marching towards Excellence
Day 4: Offline event – Short story writing
Day 5 : Leadership Talk on You are a Born Leader
Nearly 60 students registered for the event and participated all the five days with utmost enthusiasm and interest.
Day 1 : Career Counseling Talk on English for Empowerment – A Global Perspective
The first day began with an inaugural address by Dr V Rema, Professor and Head, Department of EFL followed by the introduction of guest by K Kavitha AP/EFL and deliberation on English for Empowerment – A Global Perspective by Ms. M Alagumalar, Lecturer (Sl.G)/English, TPEVR Government Polytechnic College, Vellore, Where she stressed upon the importance of English in global context and the scope through choosing B.A English at large. Dr G Immanuel AP/EFL rendered vote of thanks.
Day 2: Offline event – Enact a Role
The participants were asked to prepare a 2-minute video of a role of their choice to enact it. Nearly most of the students participated in the event.
Day 3 : Motivational Talk on Marching towards Excellence
The motivational talk on Marching towards Excellence commenced with the welcome address and felicitation by V Rema, Professor and Head, Department of EFL followed by the guest introduction by K Kavitha AP/EFL and a resourceful motivational lecture by Dr R Nagarajan, Leadership trainer and Educational consultant, Chennai in which he stressed upon positivity and possibility – the new-normal themes of the current age. Day 3 ended with the vote of thanks by Dr G Immanuel, AP/EFL.
Day 4: Offline event – Short story writing
The participants were given a chance of writing a short story of about 200 words on a good moral.
Day 5 : Leadership Talk on You are a Born Leader
The last and the final day of E-SDP began with the formal address of V Rema, Professor and Head, Department of EFL followed by the valedictory address cum leadership talk by Prof. Baljiram Tiwari, Founder, Success Edudemy, Sholinger, Tamilnadu in which the guest highlighted on the fact that some leaders are born and some become leaders through their values in life. The guest was introduced by K Kavitha AP/EFL and the vote of thanks was rendered by Dr G Immanuel, AP/EFL.
