ONE DAY SHORT FILM MAKING WORKSHOP
Department of Film Technology, SRM, Ramapuramorganised a One Day Workshop on 23rd February 2023. The Event was organised as a Brand building program for all students of Ramapuram other than the students of Media studies. Initially the event was planned for 60 students but the department received an overwhelming response from 160 interested students in the campus. Due to the limited seats available in the Preview Theatre students were registered on first come first served basis.
About the Program:
From the total number of registered students 6 groups have been formed. Each group need to create an short film using android at the end of the program. The Event was coordinated by Mr. S. Ramkumar (Graphics) and Mr. N. Niranjan Kumar (Direction). Registration and refreshments were taken care by Mr. Dhanush (Film Tech Staff).
Workshop Details:
Event commenced with a Welcome address given by HOD. Faculty under each stream gave a short description about their industry and their role in the film making. Students were given a brief explanation about their Film Making Process and the output format.
Students were asked to prepare a story and a shooting script under the guidance of the Direction Staff. Once the script was ready the students started to shoot the film using android under the guidance of the Cinematography Staff. At the end of the shoot the students were let for Lunch Break.
After the lunch students took their outputs to editing department for editing their video. Editing staff and editing students helped the workshop students to edit their footage.
Students came to Graphics Department to create titles for their films. Once the title is added to the final edited footage, Sound was added to the film in the Sound Department, which was guided by Sound Department Staff.
Conclusion:
The completed films were then screened in the Preview theatre. Students enjoyed their films screened in the projector and shared their thoughts and experience in their film making process.
The event received an overwhelming response from the participants and requested for many of more of such events in the near future. Certificates were distributed to the participants at the end of the film screening. The event concluded with Vote of Thanks given by Dr. Prabhakaran, HOD, Film Technology.
