Report on Skill Enhancement Program on Building Cloud Infrastructure and Microservices
The Department of Computer Science & Applications (MCA) organized Two Weeks Skill Enhancement Program on “Building Cloud Infrastructure and Microservices” for School Students from 29.09.2023 to 13-10-2023 through Online mode by 3 PM.
Everyday, the session was started with a welcome address by Dr. J. Dhilipan, Head cum Vice-Principal (Admin) and Dr. K. Sutha, Assistant Professor and Dr. S. Subbaiah, Associate Professor were the Co-convener of the event. All faculty members were involved in introducing the chief guest and proposing the vote of thanks. The motto of this event is to educate the school students on cloud computing platform and its services. Initially, around 200 students had registered for the program. The session was handled by industry experts from various companies and faculty members from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram. The chief guest give many inputs to the students through powerpoint presentation and cloud based softwares.
The chief guest speaks about the following topics
- Introduction to Cloud Computing
- Cloud and Digitalization
- Cloud Architecture and Hands on Training on Google Forms
- Service Management in Cloud and Certification on Microsoft Azure
- Current Trends in Information Technology and Open-Source Tools for Cloud
- Cloud Security
- Data Management in Cloud Computing
- Use Cases based on AWS
- Unveiling the Cloud: An Introduction for Young Minds
- Developing Micro-Services Application using Docker
- Deploying Microservices in Cloud using Digital Ocean Droplet
Finally, the assessment test was conducted to evaluate the students understanding on the topics.
Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence—over the Internet (“the cloud”) to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale. You typically pay only for cloud services you use, helping you lower your operating costs, run your infrastructure more efficiently, and scale as your business needs change.
Types of cloud computing
Not all clouds are the same and no single type of cloud computing is right for everyone. Several different models, types, and services have evolved to help offer the right solution for your needs.
First, you need to determine the type of cloud deployment, or cloud computing architecture, that your cloud services will be implemented on. There are three different ways to deploy cloud services: on a public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud.
Types of cloud services: IaaS, PaaS, serverless, and SaaS
Most cloud computing services fall into four broad categories: infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), serverless, and software as a service (SaaS). These are sometimes called the cloud computing “stack” because they build on top of one another. Knowing what they are and how they’re different makes it easier to accomplish your business goals.
The students were interacted with the chief guests and raised many queries about the session topics.
