Profile:

Dr. Leeba Balan, is the  Director of Bionyme Laboratories Private Limited, Chennai . Her area of expertise is Plant Tissue Culture, Phytochemistry, Nanotechnology. She accquired Doctor of Philosophy – Botany, CAS in Botany, University of Madras, Guindy campus, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India graded as Highly Commended in the year 2017. She has published more than 20 research findings in many indexed research journals and book chapters.

The aim of conducting this event was to create an awareness among the scientific communities such as students, researchers, faculties about various oppurtunities availble for  women researchers. The Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram has organized an online awareness programme titled ‘Exploring the opportunities for women in research’. The awareness programme was delivered by Dr. Leeba Balan, the  Director of Bionyme Laboratories Private Limited, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, which was held on 08-03-2024 from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm, on the celebration of International Women’s Day. The total number of participants (undergraduates, postgraduates, research scholars and faculties) who attended this was 80. The E-certificate was issued to all participants. Dr. M. Kamaraj, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Biotechnology, SRMIST, Ramapuram, delivered the welcome address. The keynote speaker of the seminar was introduced by Dr. A. Ancy Jenifer, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, SRMIST, Ramapuram.
