History of BCA Programme
The Department of BCA was established in the year 2014 under the auspices of Faculty of Science and Humanities with an intake of 65 students. It makes every effort to develop world class self disciplined graduates in computer applications who will be emerging as Social/Computer Technocrat and holding the responsibility of enriching the Technical and Research status of our Nation. The Department of BCA has an excellent scholastic ambience and infrastructure for the successful conduct of the bachelor’s programme in computer applications. The key to this effort is the dexterity among the faculty, staff and the students. This success is attributed to the dedicated and responsible faculty members of our department who imparts quality education.

Upon graduation students will be employed in various divisions of leading IT companies such as software development, testing, maintenance and support. The talented students do their internships in software giants and are most sought after by the multinational software giants like IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, Global scholar, Amazon, AMD, ZOHO etc.
IIRS- Isro Outreach Programme
The Department of Computer Applications (UG & PG) is a recognized nodal centre for Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) Outreach Programme since 5th September 2020. IIRS Operates under Indian Space Research Organization, Dehradun.
Dr. Agusthiyar R , Professor & Head, The Department of Computer Applications, Faculty of Science and Humanities , SRMIST , Ramapuram, is the Nodal centre coordinator for the same. The following programme have been conducted since the inception of the nodal centre in our university.
